Promises

Never let pass across thy lips, spoken hastily
Words that which speak of things to do or see
To only follow with, "This I promise thee"
Thy word – promise - it is but to me
Nothing more than a sentiment all hollow an empty
Especially when thou attempts to comply so feebily
False promises, thy words fall quite easily
By a conscience suffering so guiltily
To be mislaid, most likely mistakenly
Forgotten only by thee who uttered it foolishly
Thy holder though, grasps it at first joyfully
Believing thy words spoken, so trustingly
To be thwarted again an again repeatedly
Till comes a time which thy words spoken hastily
Mean nothing anymore to me.
